The honest difference: a doodle library you assemble by hand, or illustrations generated for your script.
The same three reasons come up: every video looks like every other Doodly video because the library is shared; assembling a scene by hand takes an afternoon; and the product now ships as part of the Voomly Cloud bundle rather than as a focused tool. Doodly itself has no built-in AI: no script writer, no image generator, no automatic timing. The Voomly bundle includes Talkia, a separate text-to-speech app, and Voomly's own blog suggests making new characters in ChatGPT and importing them. So the script, the drawings and the timing are still yours to produce. If none of that bothers you, Doodly still works.
Not in the editor. As of September 2026, Doodly's own site, pricing page and help centre describe no AI features: you choose doodles from the library, draw paths with Smart Draw, and record or import your voiceover. What is AI-adjacent sits around it rather than in it: the Voomly Cloud bundle includes Talkia, a separate text-to-speech app, and Voomly's blog shows how to make new characters in ChatGPT and import them as images. Several unrelated products also use the name, including a children's drawing-animation app called Doodly.AI and a general AI video generator; neither is made by Voomly. If what you want is AI that writes the script, draws a picture for each line and times the drawing to the narration, that is what StrokeVideo does, with 23 drawing styles and 1 free video a day.
Precise manual control. You place every doodle, set every path, and nothing surprises you. If you enjoy composing scenes and your topics reuse the same visual vocabulary, a library tool is hard to beat.

Switch if you make more than one video a month and want each to look like its subject. Stay if you need pixel-level control over every scene, or if you hold an older lifetime licence from when Doodly sold one and your output is fine.
